Flowmeter pressure loss

Pressure loss is one of the key indicators of the flowmeter, which is used to characterize the pressure difference between the front and back ends of the input and output of the flowmeter, and is also the lowest pressure difference to ensure the normal operation of the flowmeter. The pressure loss of a flowmeter generally increases with the increase of flow and is affected by the solution, such as the pressure loss of ultrasonic flowmeters and MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) flowmeters, which is much smaller than that of vortex flowmeters and differential pressure flowmeters.

English name: Pressure Loss of Flow Meter

Definition: The pressure loss of the flowmeter is used to describe the pressure difference between the front and back end of the input (P1) and output (P2) of the flowmeter (P1-P2), and it is also the lowest pressure difference to ensure the normal operation of the flowmeter, which is one of the basic parameters of the flowmeter.

Principle:

A flow meter, an instrument that indicates the measured flow rate and/or the total amount of fluid at a selected time interval, generally converting the flow information of a gas or liquid into an electrical signal. In the process of converting the flow information into electrical signals, it is usually necessary to convert the flow information into calorific value changes, pressure changes, and electromagnetic changes, and then convert the flow information into electrical signals through specific sensors. This results in an increased pressure loss, i.e. the pressure at the inlet is greater than the outlet pressure. Fig. 1 is the fluid simulation model of a typical flowmeter, the structure has a pressure difference generation structure similar to an orifice plate in the middle of the structure, which is used to generate sufficient flow in the bypass shunt channel, and the flow rate in the bypass directly affects the sensitivity and detection lower limit of the flowmeter, in order to improve the flow value, the pressure difference before and after the bypass shunt structure needs to be increased, and the internal pressure difference directly affects the pressure loss of the flowmeter machine.
